At Schematic Labs we make social apps for mobile & web.
We are a small agile team of multi-disciplined software engineers and designers. What brings us together is a passion for changing the world using technology and design, and improving how people share their lives on the social Web using mobile devices. We are looking for talented developers and designers who have a passion for building products that are both beautifully designed and immensely fun to use.
The first product we have created is SoundTracking, which is the fastest growing social music service today and allows you to share and discover the music soundtrack of your life using your iPhone or Android. The SoundTracking application for iOS was recently named by Apple as “Best iPhone Music App of 2011”.
Schematic Labs is based in the SoMa area of San Francisco in the historic Jackson Brewery building and is backed by Accel Partners, True Ventures, Softbank Capital and Google Ventures.

Responsibilities:
- Automate and deploy systems on the cloud.
- Collaborate with software engineers to design robust system which meet product needs.
- Optimize and troubleshoot distributed systems.
- Monitor and report system health to provide insight into scalability and thresholds.
- Continually improve the stability and security of network transactions.
Requirements - must have experience with:
- Advanced knowledge of Systems Administration (Ubunutu)
- Monitoring and Alerting (Monit / Supervisor / Munin)
- Automation and deployment (Chef / Puppet)
- Web Servers and Reverse Proxies (Nginx / HAProxy)
- Network Security (Firewalls / SSL / TLS)
- Data store scalability (MongoDB / ElasticSearch)
Bonus points for experience with:
- Rails 3.0
- Hadoop / MapReduce
- Node.js
- Data mining
- Collaborative filtering
- Geolocation / Geospatial indexes
- Recommendation engines
